Mercedes-Benz C32 AMG 2000

The C 32 AMG offers special moments to all of its drivers. Impressive dynamics, for example, which are technically defined through a torque of 332 lb-ft, a power of 349 hp and a stopping distance of less than 112 feet from a speed of 60 mph - and visually with a look that is dynamic without being garish.

With the new AMG 3.2 liter V6 Kompressor engine, the legendary V8 engine of the C 43 AMG has found a more than worthy successor. Out of 3.2 liters engine capacity, the AMG V6 Kompressor engine develops 260 kW/349 hp and generates 332 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm.

Acceleration is AMAZING. This is the fastest stock Mercedes ever produced: the C 32 AMG sedan loaded with two adults and luggage takes only 5.2 seconds to reach 62 mph according to Mercedes. The car is capable of runs to 60 in 4.5 seconds! (AutoCar review Jun 27th 2001) That's faster than the new BMW M3 and the Porsche 911. The newly-developed AMG high performance brake system with ventilated disk brakes all round and perforated brake disks at the front cooperates with the AMG sports suspension to achieve even faster standstill.

A main component of the engine is the compressor. However, all other components, too, are up to the engine's demanding performance requirements. A reinforced crank gear as well as a valve gear with a finely balanced crankshaft, stronger valve springs and pistons made from race-tested materials ensure a high level of operating endurance, while the new AMG SPEEDSHIFT® automatic transmission ensures superior driving dynamics.

The newly-developed AMG SPEEDSHIFT® five speed automatic transmission with touch-shift combines the advantages of manual and automatic transmission systems, making for the liveliest, dynamic performance possible, yet exhibiting refinement when driving under normal conditions. The new lightweight torque converter, for example, can lock up in all forward gears. Faster gear changes and optimized shifting points provide for especially agile driving dynamics. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT® transmission will also hold a selected gear under high cornering loads, preventing an upshift in mid-corner, while under heavy braking the transmission will automatically downshift, selecting the optimal gear for the situation.

AMG sport seats in two-tone nappa leather in the front offer optimal support while also underlining the C 32 AMG's exclusiveness. Additional special AMG details include the AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel, the 300 km/h AMG instrument cluster and the selector lever with C 32 badge.

With its AMG styling, the C 32 AMG appears powerful and dynamic, even at a standstill. It is perfectly complemented by AMG twin oval tailpipes and the newly-designed AMG 17" light-alloy wheels in a twin-spoke design painted in sterling silver. The wheels are 7.5 inches wide in front with 225/45 R 17 tyres, 8.5 inches wide with 245/40 R 17 tyres at the rear axle.
